This classic Limpa (translation "loaf") is a Swedish Holiday favorite, connecting the rustic, hearty elements of rye bread with the festive notes of orange complimented by a bit of anise and deep, warm color and sweetness of molasses.

Literature's Influence:

The Swedish Limpa is inspired from the Swedish novel, A Man Called Ove.

In the novel, Ove is described as "the most inflexible man in the world" and "a grumpy old man since he started elementary school". As such, Ove finds himself in constant conflict with those around him, especially after the death of his wife, Sonja. Seemingly all prickles on the surface, we discover that Ove has a softness and sweetness to him much like the lightly sweetened Limpa.

The design on top of the bread represents the love that intertwines Ove and Sonja!
